SKI services include advice on acquisitions, disposals and mergers, bid defenses, restructuring and capital raising and the corporate activities supporting these. The focus is mainly on the mid-market, which is traditionally not fully serviced by the larger banking institutions.
Martin van der Poel CA(SA) founded SKI in 2010 as a niche corporate advisory and proprietary investment business. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1997. After serving his articles at KPMG he joined their corporate finance department and gained experience in forensic accounting, mergers & acquisitions, privatisations, valuations, due diligence reviews, stock exchange compliance work and financial modeling, both with local and international clients.
In 2001 he headed up the mergers & acquisitions, legal, risk management and internal audit departments at listed ICT company AST, where he concluded a number of acquisition opportunities, negotiates large ICT outsourcing agreements and established the group risk management function and group internal audit functions.
In 2007 Martin joined Routledge Modise Inc. as director of the corporate finance department with the main objective to provide clients with a wider array of services by integrating the commercial, legal and traditional corporate finance services.
